Community Enrichment Fitness Network Hosts an Inaugural Senior Health & Wellness Community Event
After 16 months of waiting to host our first in-person event, CEFN, in partnership with CareGivers America, Oak StreetHealth, and Humana hosted an amazing
Inaugural Senior Health and Wellness Community Outdoor Event, initially scheduled for July 3rd, but due to the weather forecast for rain, it was subsequently held on the July 10 which was the rain date. Close to 150 persons were in attendance at the Fern Rock Oak Street Health located at 12th and Godfrey Ave., in Philadelphia. Although the weather started out with a nice summer breeze, by noon the temperature became hot and humid but it did not interfere with the attendees enjoying the festivities of the day. According to the attendees’ evaluations, the majority raided the overall event between excellent and good on all of the event’s festivities, including health and wellness vendors, chair exercise, line dancing, lunch, duet’s musical selections, and live entertainment provided by the amazing Smooth Edge Band. One attendee summed up the event by stating that she was surprised that even though the weather was hot and humid she was impressed with the number of attendees who turned out and stated, “It was a very good event for seniors”. Rebekah Hughston, event planning coordinator for the department of behavioral health, and a vendor at this event stated, “Thank you so much for having DBHIDS be a part of your special day! We enjoyed engaging with the seniors and the event program was spectacular! KUDOS TO A JOB WELL DONE!!! and thank you for our Certificate of Appreciation.” For more details about the event, see the article on page 2.
In addition to CEFN wanting to host its first in-person event after having to reschedule the 70s Senior Gala four times, this event was a way to say

In the fall of 2021, CEFN is happy to announce the launching of a new initiative called, Senior Advocate Outreach Program. In order to successfully launch this program, CEFN needs your help by participating in a brief survey when we reach out to you via phone to ascertain whether or not this is a viable program that will meet the need of our precious older adults and their loved ones who may need social services; (i.e. housing, transportation, meals on wheels, etc.) When you receive a call to conduct a survey, please help us to assess the need for this senior advocate outreach program. Your assistance and support will be greatly appreciated. Stay tuned for more details in the near future.
